Emergency Care 24/7

Our emergency rooms are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, across our three hospitals in operation in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit (a fourth, CMQ Fluvial, is under construction). No appointment needed. Bilingual staff available.

Life-threatening emergency?

If you or someone with you has chest pain, trouble breathing, severe abdominal pain, or loss of consciousness, call us or go to the nearest CMQ Hospital. If you're not able to come, we will send one of our ambulances to you.

What is our Emergency service?

Our Emergency Room (ER) treats any health issue that needs immediate medical attention, for kids and adults — from accidents and severe pain to sudden complications of a chronic condition.

Everything you need, under one roof

At each of our hospitals, you will find every step of emergency and follow-up care in the same facility. No need to travel between clinics, labs, and imaging centers while you or a loved one is unwell.

  • Initial assessment

Immediate triage by a nurse; emergency physicians available 24/7.

  • On-site laboratory

Blood work, cultures, and rapid tests processed in the same building.

  • Imaging in place

X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI — no transfer to another facility.

  • Hospital pharmacy

Medications dispensed immediately, so treatment starts immediately.

  • Procedures & operating rooms

Sutures, splints, minor procedures, and full surgical capacity on site.

  • Hospitalization

Inpatient rooms and intensive care available if your condition requires it.

  • Ambulance 24/7

Our own ambulance service, available from all three hospitals in operation — we can come to you.

  • Follow-up care

Same specialists available for your follow-up consultation, in the same hospital.

When should I go to the ER?

Come to Emergency right away if you have:

  • Chest pain, trouble breathing, or fainting
  • Heavy bleeding or a serious injury
  • Very high fever that doesn't respond to medication, especially in children
  • Signs of severe dehydration, confusion, or seizures
  • A traffic, motorcycle, or ATV accident, or a fall with a possible fracture
  • Any symptom that feels life-threatening for you or someone with you

What situations do we treat?

Beyond the general emergencies, our ERs are prepared to treat any conditions that come with visiting or living on the coast:

  • Heat stroke, dehydration, and sun exposure
  • Jellyfish, stingray, scorpion, and bee stings; animal bites
  • Snorkeling, surfing, and pool accidents
  • Motorcycle, ATV, and excursion accidents
  • Food poisoning and traveler's diarrhea with dehydration
  • Complications from chronic conditions, like diabetes and hypertension, especially in seasonal residents
  • Severe allergic reactions

What can I expect on arrival?

  • Immediate triage: our nurses assess severity as soon as you arrive.
  • Most serious cases seen first, not first-come first-served.
  • On-site lab, X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI. No need to travel elsewhere for tests.
  • Multidisciplinary medical team, with more than 100 specialists on call.
  • Bilingual staff to help international patients navigate the process.

Why does timing matter?

In emergencies like heart attack, stroke, abdominal pain, respiratory issues, allergies, or animal bites, every minute without care can affect the outcome. Our ERs are open 24/7 with imaging, lab, operating rooms, and medications available on site so treatment can begin without waiting for a transfer elsewhere.

Follow-up care in the same place

Once the emergency is stabilized, follow-up doesn't mean starting over somewhere new. The same specialists who treated you in the ER are available for consultations, imaging follow-ups, and post-procedure appointments — with your medical history already on file.
